The Real Estate business unit is seeking an experienced Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) as a Senior Technical Specialist to work alongside our Client Leaders and Project Managers to provide technical solutions to project-specific challenges for key clients in the land development, institutions, education, and healthcare industry sectors. This is a full-time position and will be located in any of our Bay Area offices including Walnut Creek, San Jose, or Oakland, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Direct a team and perform geologic/hydrogeologic interpretation of data at complex sites
•As a lead technical specialist, evaluate the potential for geologic hazards including earthquakes and earthquake-triggered phenomena, landslides, mudflows, rock falls, rock slides, debris flows, flash floods, and volcanic eruptions.
•Direct the exploration of subsurface conditions and perform geologic hazard identification, analyses, evaluation, and mitigation.
•Direct and supervise technical assignments (both field and office) and manage entire projects or specific elements of projects
•Create detailed, scientific, and technical reports for submittal to CA state regulatory entities for review and approval.
•Perform business development and marketing activities as needed with Associate/Principal level staff to capture new clients for Haley & Aldrich
•Participate in business development pursuits and assist in preparation of proposals
•Understand and apply company, client, and site Health and Safety standards
•Serve as coach and mentor to other lower career level technical staff
REQUIREMENTS
•B.S. in geological engineering, structural geology, engineering geology or related discipline. M.S. strongly preferred.
•10+ years of relevant experience working with clients in land development, institutions, education, and healthcare industry sectors. Experience in a professional consulting environment highly desired.
• Professional registration: CA Professional Geologist (PG) and CA Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG).
• Expertise and broad-based knowledge of applied geosciences that includes engineering geology, seismic evaluation and mitigation, groundwater, hydrology, and strong understanding of the laws and regulations for construction and development in seismically active areas of California.
• Must have experience in Northern California, including the Bay Area, performing fault trench studies and landslide evaluations, including mitigating and producing repair plans.
• Working knowledge and experience preparing supporting engineering geology and seismology reports required under California Geological Survey (CGS) Note 48 requirements and checklist review process.
• Experience with geohydrology or geophysical testing methods are desirable.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently with a strong attention to detail and work product quality.
•Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and staff across our West Coast US offices, and other offices nationwide.
