Register now for AEG’s Short Course on Soil Stratigraphy for Trench Logging, presented by Glenn Borchardt on Friday June 10th and Saturday June 11th, 2016.
Students will learn how to improve their trench and outcrop logs and descriptions of soils uncovered during seismic investigations. The course is taught by Dr. Glenn Borchardt, Ph.D., a recognized expert in the fields of paleoseismology and pedology. The course consists of classroom lecture on Friday, June 10. Saturday June 11 includes a trip to examine exposures at Point Pinole Regional shoreline.
Friday’s lectures will be held at Preservation Park (Ginn Large Parlor) at 660 13th Street in Oakland from 8am-5pm (lunch “on your own”)
Saturday’s field exercise will be held at Point Pinole Regional Park 8am-5pm (lunch provided)
The cost is $350 for AEG members, $400 for non-members, lunch included on Saturday only.
Dr. Borchardt is the Principal Soil Scientist for Soil Tectonics, Berkeley, California. Dr. Borchardt has a Ph.D. in Soil Mineralogy from Oregon State University, an M.S. in Clay Mineralogy from the University of Wisconsin, and a B.S. in Soil Science from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Borchardt is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist.
